Historia

The Newcastle Portuguese Hall was built in 1918 by the Portuguese community. The lot was donated by Manuel L & Mary Z Perry, brother and sister, to three Portuguese Fraternal Lodges, I.D.E.S. Council #42; S.P.R.S.I. Council #26 and U.P..C. Council#58.  The hall gained historical status with "State Point of Historic Interest" on Nov. 14, 1981 and was placed on the "National Register of Historic Places" on March 25, 1982.  The preservation of the hall is maintain by the Newcastle Portuguese Hall Association.
The hall is located at 690 Taylor Road in Newcastle California.

Thank You!

Big thank you to everyone who helped at our book sale and a big thank you to all you customers who came and purchased 100's of books. The NPHA appreciates your support and all of your contributions will assist in the preservation of this fine building. Our annual rummage sale is approaching quickly and we could use more donations of your no longer needed items. We accept clothing, household goods, decorations, electronics in good working order, small furniture, toys, garden tools and just about anything that others may desire! All proceeds from the rummage sale go toward the preservation of the hall. Donations are greatly appreciated. For information on drop off times you may contact James Ferreira @ 916 240 -2486. The Rummage Sale is being held April 29th, 30th and May 1st.
